Las Margaritas Yellow Burbon, Colombia from Friedhats, Amsterdam

It doestn’t fry my hat, but it’s a pretty solid coffee. Smooth but crisp, fruity but balanced. Some banana, some blossoms. A sprinkle of flavor love, but still well into the friendzone.

Edgar Nuñez, Huila, Colombia from Norð, Oslo

Oops. Somebody put a Black Forest Cheese Cake in my cup. Dark chocolates trumped with cherries and both covered in creamy goodness. Soft mouthfeel. Smooth finish.

Finca el Tablon, Colombia from The Barn, Berlin

Very mild, with floral bits of orange blossom and a little caramel candy side note. Elegant and very, very subtle coffee. Good. But in the heat of this summer a little to subtle for me and my lust for powerful fruity coffees.

Porto Blend (Espresso) from Nord Coast Coffee Roastery, Hamburg

Robusta strikes back! In this coffee you get what you expect in an Italian style roasted espresso blend. Fluffy crema, smooth creamy texture and a strong nutty taste. Great as a digestive after a fatty lasagna. But not quiet what I love in an espresso. For that purpose I’d rather get that Kenyan from Nord […]

José Martínez, Columbia from Langøra Kaffebrenneri, Stjørdal

The beans smell like a freshly opened package of rum-raisin-nut chocolate. And it also remains some of this in the cup. Sweet, fruity (apricot, rasperry) aspects are dominating this fantastic honey processed microlot coffee. It only has very little fermentation notes and these blend in very smoothly in it’s round, silky yet very complexe structure […]

El Desarollo, Columbia from The Coffee Collective, Copenhagen

Just exactly one year ago Karl and Glayza were getting married in Copenhagen (happy anniversary!). And when I was strolling through the streets in between wedding ceremony and dinner, I secretly started a romantic affair with The Coffee Collective and their light roasted single origins. I carried some bags back home. But that stuff […]

El Jardin, Colombia from Caravan Coffee Roaster, London

That coffee happily meets the mouth like a peachy Pinot Grigio. Just a little warmer (usually). Makes a great iced coffee too. It pleases with a red currant touch with some exotic components, milky (way) finish and an intriguing but modest elegance. It’s quiet I nteresting to compare own coffee tasting notes to those the […]

El Diamante, Huila, Colombia from Five Elephant, Berlin

During my last visits in Berlin I always missed out visiting Five Elephant. (I was either in a different part of town or around the corner of the venue but at night time.) So I can’t say anything neither about the brewing and serving on spot nor about their famous cheese cakes. However, I got […]

Finca Tamana, Columbia from Koppi, Helsingborg

A real pleasent sweetie pie. Fine peach sweetness. Not overwhelmingly complexe but a really nice companion.  But I really had a too large stock of coffee within the last two month, so that a lot of coffees started to faint away. And after my palette developed a bit (still got to grow a lot), […]

Blend 2.4 (Espresso) by Black Delight, Hamburg

I don’t want any darker roasted beans in my grinder. This blend is definitely on the edge of the color scale. It’s not as dark as Italian roasts and still got a big of fruity flavor and acidity. This blend did a good job for my weekly latte and an occasional espresso ones ore […]
